From the illustration, we can write a story line as following:
1. Bob's computer is broken.
2. He takes it to the repairman.
3. He has the repairman fix his computer OR He has his computer fixed.
CAUSATIVE is a sentence indicates someone asks, tells, or makes someone else to do something for him/her.
There are 2 types of CAUSATIVE: ACTIVE and PASSIVE
ACTIVE :
He has the repairman fix his computerWe can use have someone do something to talk about giving instructions or orders (more common in American English).
- I had my assistant type the report.
- I'll have my lawyer look into it.
PASSIVE:
He has his computer fixed.
- We use causative when arranging for someone to do something for us.
- They had their car repaired.
They repaired their car.
They did it themselves
- I had my hair cut yesterday.
I cut my hair yesterday.
I cut it myself
